BlueBolt is looking for an experienced Head of Pipeline to strategise with Senior Stakeholders on the continuing development of the Company pipeline and provide strong technical leadership to our engineering team on the delivery of Pipeline projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with CTO, Department Heads and Leads to capture studio requirements and determine Pipeline objectives

  • Breakdown objectives into manageable Pipeline projects

  • Provide strong leadership to the Pipeline team to deliver their projects, and foster close communication during development with stakeholders across the company.

  • Manage and oversee the Pipeline team’s day-to-day work and development schedule, estimate the delivery of projects and ensure they are met on time

  • Run own projects and write clear & concise documentation

  • Effectively balance the team’s fire-fighting agility with tools development and R&D

  • Run sprint reviews, planning and retrospective meetings, and participate in code reviews

  • Help team break down requirements into user stories and tasks

  • Present tools development to department heads and production team

  • Promote high standards when it comes to code quality and enforce and encourage best practices

  • Drive innovation in the team, staying abreast of technical developments and maintaining relationships with external organisations to grow & strengthen BlueBolt’s pipeline.

  • Foster development of team members, using a mix of 1:1 meetings, personal reviews and training.

 Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience: 

  • Proven performance managing a Pipeline team using Agile Scrum and a solid track record of pipeline development experience in VFX

  • Experience designing and implementing 2D & 3D pipelines from scratch or progressing existing pipelines using standard industry packages

  • Enjoys writing clean, efficient, well-documented Python code

  • Strong understanding of asset management, production workflows and colour pipeline

  • Excellent on-the-spot technical problem-solving skills as well as foresight to potential issues

  • Approachable with strong communication skills, both written and in person.

Desirable Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline

  • Experience working in a SCRUM based development environment

  • Active member of the open source community.
